Expansion joints are found in nearly every construction project, and each building material has its properties to expand and shrink due to various reasons, primarily temperature changes, which lead to the expansion and contraction of building components. Structural settlement can also be the reason for the application of expansion joints.

PWSS seals and provides outstanding finish to all expansion joints using the highest-grade products on the market. PWSS can offer SIKA, Bostik, Soudal, GSA Facade, etc. sealant installation in the following areas:

  • Concrete floor joints (AbleFlex): Common areas that require this treatment arepoured concrete such as car parks, store rooms, warehouses, and footpaths etc.
  • Saw cuts in concrete substrates: Sealant is epoxy-based and commonly grey in colour, which blends perfectly with natural concrete colour. It protects the edges of the concrete from chipping and withstands joint movement.
  • Isolation Joints in concrete substrates: Sealant acts as a barrier against the penetration of water and foreign materials that can develop moisture and structural integrity problems.
  • Control/expansion joints to brickwork: Polyurethane and silicone are perfect for sustaining structural movements.
  • Control joints to brick pavers: Various colours are available to match the pavers. Polyethylene joint fillers are often used in this situation. Once the joint has been filled, it is sealed with an elastomeric sealant.
  • Tilt panels (fire-rated or non-fire-rated): Required to comply with engineer requirements. Backing rod is often installed in conjunction with sealant compound. Its key benefit is to limit the amount of sealant applied through the joint.
  • Fibre cement/timber sheeting: Jointing compound is required before coating the fibre cement sheets with a decorative finish.
  • Various cladding panels including Alucobond: Silicone joint systems to facades or cladding for both exterior and interior wall cladding.

Any expansion joints that are left untreated would compromise the quality and performance of the building. PWSS has the solutions to this issue through the installation of Mastic/sealant. Mastic/sealant is introduced as a waterproof, durable, and flexible bond between building materials. PWSS is able to supply and install MS (Modified Silicone) Polymer, polyurethane, anti-pick, and fire-rated sealants depending on the requirements for each project.

The PWSS team consists of professionally trained technicians who provide their services with excellent attention to detail. PWSS has participated in the construction of Perth Airport, Kwinana Freeway projects, Coles, Woolworths, Transperth train stations, WA schools,Main roads WA, Casuarina Prison, Chichester Park New Community Sporting Facility,Piara waters secondary school, Yanchep High schooland Curtin University.

All construction projects will allow for expansion/ movement joints including allowance for shrinkage during the curing processes. Whether this for thermal movement or structural settlement these joints will need treating. Whilst being ascetically pleasing, Mastic / sealant should be installed to allow the flexibility of the expansion and to prevent water damage to seep into the substrate which can weaken or cause damage.

PWSS can seal and leave an outstanding finish to all joints as shown below using the highest-grade products on the market. With access to all Mastic, polyurethane, MS polymer, Fire rated, anti-pick systems you can be assured we are the company to trust.
